Calling all Silicon Forest startups: Chat with The Oregonian at noon today

Calling all Silicon Forest startups: Chat with The Oregonian at noon today

It’s no secret that one of the many reasons I started Silicon Florist was to get more people interested in what you’re doing.

Yes you, you silly goose.

You’re inventing incredibly cool stuff. You’re bending Web and mobile technology to your will. You’re taking risks. And you’re trying to build companies that will help Oregon and the Silicon Forest thrive.

Now, The Oregonian wants to hear from you.

As a follow up to the Portland startup scene article that he published this weekend, Mike Rogoway will be holding a chat session to continue the conversation about Portland area startups and entrepreneurship in Oregon.

The session starts at noon today (May 5). So take a lunch break, for once, and please join us.

I’d really like to see you there. Because your insight is vital. Maybe you love the startup scene. Maybe you think the startups around here are one of the things that makes Portland suck. Maybe you think that most people just don’t get it. Maybe you’re building a new kind of conference. Maybe you think we should be paying less attention to Portland and more attention to startups in other Silicon Forest cities and towns. Maybe you’ve just got a hankering for the Strange Love Live chat room, midweek.

Maybe, just maybe, I should cease and desist with the “Maybe…” statements.

But hopefully, you get my point.

Whatever the case, it would be great to have you in the chat at noon. And the better cross-section of opinions we have, well, the better.

I’m looking forward to seeing your username in the chat room at noon.

I’ll join the chat just a little bit late as I have an 11am appt. I’ll tell a couple of tech start-ups I know that they should participate!

  4. Jared says:

    Calling asap. Sounds great.

  5. I really don’t think I have anything to offer Portland.

  8. I am a technical outlier, but I am the so called “creative” behind a start-up company here in Oregon. I have been reading and learning as much as I can but I am still far behind and need assistance, so I have hired several talented teams to put the party together for me.

This is exciting stuff and I am loving this on-the-job training!

I will be interviewing some of the local social media marketing talent between 10 and 3pm today, so I will not be able to participate in this chat. I will email some info to Mike this morning. Thank you Rick for let us know about this.

My point is that a technical start-up here in Portland can begin, even when the boss is playing catch-up to the talented support team.

  9. Looking forward to it! I just launched milkmuny.com less than a week ago. Where were you people 3 months ago and why am I just finding our about this ! :)
