Description
Pop quiz. Good project management:
A) Is a subtle combination of intuition and critical thinking
B) Can make a team more productive, engaged, and effective
C) Doesn't come from a certification, a fixed methodology or a recipe
D) Requires nuanced understanding of a specific project and group of people
We think the right answer is "E) all of the above." If you think so too (and are maybe even wondering why we bothered to state the obvious), please read on. . .
At Temboo we're building an SDK for the Cloud: a next-generation set of software development tools that simplify creating, deploying, and managing apps that interact with external services.
Temboo is a small startup (funded!) headquartered in New York: for the right candidate, telecommuting is also an option. Our team is diverse, wickedly smart, and passionate about what we do: building an SDK for the Cloud that makes developing, deploying, and managing apps that interact with external services faster, easier, and more fun. It's an audacious goal and we'll achieve it--with your help.
We're looking for a Technical Project Manager who is able to balance big-picture perspective with a close understanding of all the details that can cause a schedule to go wrong. Someone who can shift between creating sprint plans and getting their hands dirty as needed to get the job done, from hacking code to participating in QA. Someone who can speak product as well as programmer.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Tracking and allocating development, UX, and QA project resources
• Coordinating dates deliverables across development, QA, and product teams
• Helping to improve our SDLC practices
• Facilitating technical decisions and drafting specifications as needed
• Fostering a culture of personal accountability and innovation
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
• Startup experience
• Experience with Agile processes
• Experience as a project manager for both development and operations groups
• Fluency with at least one of the following: Java, PHP, Python
• Working technical knowledge of software design patterns and SaaS architecture
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with remote teams
• Sense of Humor!
Our unique company culture promotes individual contribution, innovation, excellence, and the belief that work should also be fun. We offer competitive compensation, flexible working hours, a casual office environment, and respect for individual contribution and autonomy. We're looking for people who have interests outside of work as well (please mention some of these in your cover letter if you like).
Does this sound like you? If so, there may be a place for you at Temboo. Candidates outside the New York area will also be considered for employment on a remote basis (we have a few remote employees in Portland!)
