Do you want to revolutionize how people are entertained and informed?

We’re looking for a great iOS engineer to join our growing team. You’ll help to invent and build new features for Showyou, and improve existing ones. We’ll expect you to be well-versed in iPhone and iPad development, and have strong points of view about what constitutes an engaging user interface and experience.

Do you take pride in building cool new controls; pushing tables, scroll views, and collection views to their outer limits; and designing fun and engaging animations? So do we.

Do apps that scroll at 30-40fps get under your skin? Are you routinely busting out Time Profiler and CoreAnimation instruments in order to achieve the kind of responsiveness and performance that comes out of Cupertino? Get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when your app compiles with zero warnings and Instruments complains of no leaks? If so, we should talk.

Skills & Requirements

Deep experience with building iOS apps and Objective-C.
Experience creating (and debugging) concurrent applications, strong familiarity with Grand Central Dispatch.
Experience with Core Animation for creating fun and performant UI enhancements.
Memory management. It’s Objective-C after all, ‘nuff said.
Experience with crash reports, tracking down and solving bugs in the live app.
Being your own QA team - we value writing resilient, bug-free (as possible), performant code, and being responsible for testing your own work is essential.
Experience at at least one previous startup or a compelling argument for why it doesn’t matter.
Interest in, and strong opinions on good mobile app design and UX.

Bonus Points:

Ruby (or comparable) experience, and the ability to work on our backend and internal REST API.
Web development chops - the ability to sling jQuery and CSS and work on our website.

About Showyou

Showyou is an award-winning video app for the iPad and iPhone. Apple's AppStore named Showyou Best Social Networking app on the iPad in 2011 (along with the Facebook and Skype apps), and Showyou is on the App Store Essentials list for both the iPhone and iPad.

But we're just getting started. We’re trying to create the best video app ever made for smartphones and tablets; an app that people love to use as a result of simple, beautiful UI as well as sophisticated and practical use of large amounts of data. And by doing that, to change the way people are informed and entertained.

It's an audacious mission for a small team -- just six right now with plans to grow to 10 by end of this year. So you'll have a chance to make a significant, and immediate, impact. We're backed by TrueVentures (an amazing VC firm).

We have great offices in both San Francisco (Jackson Square, between the Financial District and North Beach) and downtown Portland. Both offices are convenient to public transit, coffee and great food. Don’t live in Portland or SF? We can work with you to fix that. Because our team is divided between Portland and San Francisco, we make an effort to get everyone together regularly -- in San Francisco, or Portland, or regular team offsites out in the boonies (last one was at Stinson Beach, California) to plan, strategize, and hack.

A lot of us are bike enthusiasts and commuters. We like music. The folks in Portland can get geeky about their beer. And we’re all into our coffee (there is a Barista in our building in Portland, and the Reveille coffee truck is 1.5 blocks from our San Francisco office)
