Java Instrumentation Engineer
|Company Name||New Relic|
|Date Posted||May 03, 2012|
A good knowledge of the JVM ecosystem is important since the agent interacts closely with all the major servers and libraries in the Java world. Having some experience with other JVM languages (e.g. Scala, Clojure, etc.) would be a bonus. It’s also helpful to know the intricacies of how the JVM works, for example how class loading works, or how to manipulate byte code. Much of this can be learned on the job, but these kinds of issues come up frequently.
Our agent runs in tens of thousands of diverse Java applications, many of them huge, high-traffic installs. Writing agent code is a responsibility; our customers trust us enough to run our code in their applications. We’re looking for an engineer to wield that power wisely and help us take things to the next level.
You would be the third in a team of talented Java programmers, and would be joining the larger Agent team, which includes engineers working in Ruby, PHP, C, Python, .NET, and Node.
We’re a very fast growing pre-IPO start-up and we care about our culture.
