We're a dynamic start-up located in Portland Oregon offering a unique opportunity for a user experience designer who is in house and full time. We believe that design isn't just about pretty pixels -- it's a full understanding of how the products we build interact with the people that use them.

Responsibilities

Everything from designing pixel-perfect shadows and highlights on a button in Photoshop to refining existing icons and logos. You should be extremely comfortable with Photoshop and be able to churn out beautiful work that shows an understanding of the design challenges we face.

- Ability to create rapid prototypes to communicate design ideas. We're not just looking for people who obsess over the details - we're also looking for people who can communicate new ideas as quickly and efficiently as possible. You should be able to use plain pencil & paper to construct and communication variations on ideas to the product team. Design is an iterative process, and we're looking for people who embrace this philosophy of creation as well.

- Ability to modify and construct solid HTML, jQuery, and CSS is a BIG plus. We're a small team, and often you'll be the one moving your designs from photoshop to code. You should be very comfortable with HTML & CSS or be comfortable and willing to learn them quickly. Exceptional candidates will have a fundamental understanding of Javascript and a + to have good understanding of UX/UI design.

- Comfortable using or learning git version control in a basic capacity.

- Experience with mobile/responsive design and Ruby and Ruby on Rails is also a BIG plus, but is not critical.

- Being an OSX person is also a big plus so we can get them set up and working in our development environment more easily

- Ability to work closely with the founder and help bring his vision alive through the design process. Proficient in Adobe CS tool Suite ( Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc) A full time position available including stock options and the usual start-up package that will make you smile.
