COLOURlovers makes design super easy & fun. We build intuitive design tools and provide the world with access to a massive library of quality creative content. What started as a site to create and share color ideas and inspirations has grown into a huge creative resource reaching nearly 2 Million fine folks each month, and has been nominated for Best Community in the Webby Awards 5 years in a row.

We recently raised venture funds from some of the most awesome investors and we're looking to add a few more passionate, amazing self-starters to our team. Help us share the COLOURlove!

The Opportunity

There are rare people out there that love writing code / hacking / shipping apps they've built... AND they can design them too. We already have a few of these majestic unicorns on the COLOURlovers team and we're looking to add another to the fold. We reach almost 2 Million visitors each month and have apps that have been purchased tens of thousands of times... and we're a startup running fast and working hard. The unicorn developer helps us streamline development by being able to mock-up and design features... and then actually build them.


Requirements

Solid with PHP, mySQL, JS, UX/UI.

You take direction well, but also can lead when the time calls for it.

We like you more if:

You're Comfortable with the command line and basic shell scripting, cron, etc.
You have strong OOP skills.
You have a strong understanding of the RESTful model, working knowledge of mod_rewrite.
You have experience with memcache or similar in-memory key / value store.
You're good with front-end stuff like cross-browser JavaScript [mainly prototype, some jQuery], standards-compliant HTML [xhtml / html5].
You've done mySQL schema design and performance-tuning [indexing, denormalization, EXPLAIN].
You have experience with search engines [Solr, Sphinx, Lucene, etc], svn experience a plus.
You've developed for mobile platforms, iOS or Android.
You've shipped a quality app / service.
You have experience with SVG.

We have co-working space in Portland, OR if you prefer a more social work environment... but we also know that some people work best from home. Our Dev team is growing in Portland, but we have team members in SF, NYC and S. Oregon as well.
