Are you ready to be a key player for our SaaS company - setting the standard for technical innovation and customer growth?
Four years ago New Relic established an entirely new market with the first-ever, full-service app performance management (APM) delivered as SaaS. We work with Java, Ruby, Python, PHP and .Net users, and get accolades (and revenue!) from the full spectrum of app developers – startups working in a garage, all the way to global Fortune 50 enterprise users.
We build the most obvious, easiest-to-use APM tool in the world, but we're not perfect and it still needs great documentation -- how to install our agents on different platforms; how to use New Relic to solve app performance issues; explanations of customer features; . . . well, you know.
We are looking for someone to join our Engineering team to write and manage fabulous documentation. You will interview the engineers, turning their techno-speak into user-speak. You will work with the Support to bring clarity to the most confusing features. You will organize the documentation and tweak the meta-data so that user searches work like magic.
If you "get it", you'll know that our documentation needs to be more than static pages: it will be its own live application, with deep knowledge of the user (who they are, which agent they are using, etc.), and will be tailored the user in interesting ways.
We are looking for a unique individual, someone who . . .
- Loves writing, loves explaining concepts, and works in all media.
- Is creative - outside the box is where you like to play
- Is driven to make it work now - sometimes asking forgiveness rather than permission
- Is technically competent and curious. We're an engineering company and so you'll need to like engineers and geeky things.
- "Can't be done" is not in your vocabulary
- Collaborates easily across silos or disciplines to solve problems
All that, yes, but ... primarily we are looking for someone with the right personality, the right people skills, and the right technical curiosity.
This position is in our Portland, Oregon office, in a vibrant tech community and a region with a great quality of life. We offer competitive compensation, pre-IPO stock options, and big-company stability and benefits (medical, dental, vision, life), while maintaining the energy, agility and fun of a start-up.
New Relic is most decidedly an equal opportunity employer. We seek applicants of diverse background and hire without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
