# Ignite Portland begins to smolder

As mentioned earlier (“[Ignite Portland?](http://siliconflorist.com/2007/08/11/ignite-portland/ "Ignite Portland?")“), [Josh Bancroft](http://tinyscreenfuls.com "Josh Bancroft") came back from [Gnomedex](http://gnomedex.com "Gnomedex") with an urge to begin Ignite Portland.

Well, if [Twitter](http://twitter.com "Twitter") is any indication, a small planning session, today, seems to have been extremely positive. Josh mentions it in tweets [here](http://twitter.com/jabancroft/statuses/209609502 "Ignite Portland") and [here](http://twitter.com/jabancroft/statuses/209883302 "Ignite Portland"). And [Dawn Foster](http://fastwonderblog.com/ "Dawn Foster") mentioned it [in a tweet](http://twitter.com/geekygirldawn/statuses/209886892 "Ignite Portland") as well, offering that something may be happening as soon as October. I know that [Raven Zachary](http://rinzai.com "Raven Zachary") was in attendance, too.

Both Raven and Dawn are involved in organizing the annual [BarCamp Portland](http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortland "BarCamp Portland") and monthly [BarCamp Portland Meetup](http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortlandMeetups "BarCamp Portland Meetup") events.
