# Portland presents at WordCamp Las Vegas

[![WordCamp Las Vegas](https://i0.wp.com/siliconflorist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/imgwordcamplasvegas.jpg?w=925)](http://lasvegaswordcamp.com "WordCamp Las Vegas")This weekend, a number of Portland folks made the trek down south for [WordCamp Las Vegas](http://lasvegaswordcamp.com/ "WordCamp Las Vegas"), a gathering of WordPress users akin to our own [WordCamp Portland](http://siliconflorist.com/2008/09/29/wordcamp-portland-wordcampdx-2008/ "WordCamp Portland").

Three members of the Portland tech community—[Aaron Hockley](http://twitter.com/ahockley "Aaron Hockley"), [Geoff Kleinman](http://twitter.com/geoffk "Geoff Kleinman"), and [Lorelle VanFossen](http://twitter.com/lorelleonwp "Lorelle VanFossen")—took to the stage to present. Which is a really big deal, given that the attendees at this event are very much a who’s who of the WordPress community and the world of blogging, including [Matt Mullenweg](http://ma.tt/ "Matt Mullenweg") (the creator of [WordPress](http://wordpress.org "WordPress")), [Chris Brogan](http://www.chrisbrogan.com/ "Chris Brogan"), [Liz Strauss](http://www.successful-blog.com/ "Liz Strauss")… the list goes on and on.

Aaron Hockley’s talk “[Beyond Beer and Blog](http://www.anotherblogger.com/2009/01/10/links-to-most-excellent-portland-things/ "Beyond Beer and Blog"),” described the growing Web tech scene here in town and highlighted some of the key factors that contributed to building such a successful community.

The presentation was so exceedingly good—and [so well received](http://sqrl.it/?876rp "Tweets about @ahockley and wordcamplv")—I’ve embedded it below for your viewing pleasure. It’s the weekend. Kick back and spend a few minutes hearing about how we got where we are today.

Geoff presented on techniques and tips for managing team blogs with large numbers of contributors. You can watch his presentation on the [WordCamp Las Vegas Ustream channel](http://www.anotherblogger.com/2009/01/10/links-to-most-excellent-portland-things/ "Geoff Kleinman on managing team blogs").

Unfortunately, at the time of this post, the always incomparable [Lorelle](http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/wordcamp-las-vegas-will-rock-the-wordpress-community-this-weekend/ "Lorelle on WordPress on WordCamp Las Vegas") had not yet had her presentation archived. (I’ll link it up when it’s available. ***\[Update\]*** Or not. See Aaron’s comment below.) She presented on measuring traffic and what it means to bloggers. No doubt with a mention or two of [Woopra](http://woopra.com "Woopra").

WordCamp Las Vegas continues through Sunday. It is being [streamed live if you’d like to tune in](http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wordcamp-las-vegas "WordCamp Las Vegas on Ustream").
