# SAP gets social: Jive to integrate Social Business Software with SAP BI

No Portland-based startup stands a better chance of making a run at the fabled “Enterprise customer” than [Jive Software](http://jivesoftware.com "Jive Software"), makers of Social Business Software that helps large companies do a better job of collaborating internally and with customers. Recently, we’ve seen [Jive fleshing out its exec team](http://siliconflorist.com/2009/05/19/jive-executive-team-continues-solidify-ben-kiker-steps-sam-lawrences-role/ "Ben Kiker joins Jive as CMO"), [opening a Palo Alto office](http://www.jivesoftware.com/jivespace/community/jivetalks/blog/2009/06/18/jives-bay-area-office "Jive opens a Bay Area office"), and [signing a number of name brand customers](http://www.jivesoftware.com/customers "Jive Customers").

Today, Jive continues the march toward the enterprise with the announcement of a [partnership with business intelligence juggernaut, SAP](http://www.jivesoftware.com/news/releases/2009/6/jive-signs-agreement-with-sap-to-deliver-social-business-intelligence-for-the-enterprise "Jive signs aggreement with SAP").

Obviously, this is big news for Jive, for Portland, and for social software in general. And a partnership which likely has other enterprise-level software companies taking notice.

If you’re not in a large organization, [SAP](http://sap.com "SAP") might not be a household word for you. But if you’ve been in any large company or entity—like Multnomah County for example—you’ve likely encountered SAP in some for or another, given that they’re the leading supplier of business intelligence software.

So how will SAP—who, as a company, is [already a customer of Jive’s](https://cw.sdn.sap.com/index.jspa "SAP's Jive powered portal")—be using Jive within their offering? The OEM agreement will enable SAP to deliver “community analytics” to its customers by combining SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand with Jive’s Social Business Software.

What’s Jive get out of it? Well, according to the press release, [Jive customers can now leverage SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand](http://www.jivesoftware.com/news/releases/2009/6/jive-signs-agreement-with-sap-to-deliver-social-business-intelligence-for-the-enterprise "Jive signs agreement with SAP"):

> With SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand delivered as part of the Jive SBS platform, Jive customers will be able to share, discuss and collaborate around business data more effectively, enabling smarter decision-making by a larger number of business users. Rather than relying on a handful of analysts to produce static charts that end up buried in presentations, Jive customers will gain broad access to highly customizable and interactive reports, along with the unique ability to share, discuss and collaborate around this information.

For more on the deal, see the [Jive press release](http://www.jivesoftware.com/news/releases/2009/6/jive-signs-agreement-with-sap-to-deliver-social-business-intelligence-for-the-enterprise "SAP and Jive agreement").
