# Video: Portland creative community gathers for round table on PortlandOnline design contest

As you’re likely aware, there is a continuing discussion surrounding the [City of Portland](http://portlandonline.com "City of Portland") and the redesign of its online property, [PortlandOnline](http://portlandonline.com "PortlandOnline"). It’s sparked a great deal of emotion—specifically because a [proposed contest to redesign PortlandOnline](http://siliconflorist.com/2009/07/13/spec-work-portland-web-design-community-city-ur-doin-it-wrong/) smacks of [spec work](http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/position-spec-work "AIGA position on spec work").

The Portland chapter of the [AIGA](http://aiga.org) recently gathered other members of the Web design and graphic design community to talk through the issues surrounding the contest and how the creative community should respond.

The audio is a little low, so make sure to turn up your speakers a bit.

This is just the first of many meetings on this topic. And I know there are plans to get the City more involved in the discussion. But this is an interesting discussion that gets the creative community’s issues out on the table. It’s worth a watch.
