# SwedeShop: IKEA on the iPhone

Some folks just can’t get enough of [IKEA](http://www.ikea.com/ "IKEA"). I mean, do you remember the [pandemonium when they finally opened a location in Portland](http://pdxpipeline.com/2007/07/24/run-ruuuun-the-insanity-that-is-the-ikea-opening/ "The INSANITY that is the IKEA Opening")? Cheap modern furniture and tasty Swedish meatballs? What’s not to like?

Well, a few things. For all the Swedish furnishing and food awesomeness, it does have some drawbacks. First of all, the Las-Vegas-casino-like maze that is IKEA. And that ball pit thingamajig. But I can’t help you there.

But don’t despair, there’s a third frustrating IKEA thing that can be fixed: the golf pencils. Introducing [SwedeShop](http://www.danilocampos.com/apps/swedeshop/ "SwedeShop"), the unofficial IKEA iPhone app, from Eugene-based [Bend-based (according to TechFlash)](http://www.techflash.com/Trying_to_find_an_end_table_at_Ikea_Theres_an_app_for_that_53582837.html "TechFlash on SwedeShop") iPhone developer [Danilo Campos](http://twitter.com/_danilo "Danilo Campos on Twitter").

It’s a simple straightforward app designed to make your IKEA experience more simple and straightforward.

> IKEA is the coolest store in the whole world. I’m in love with it. The only drawback to IKEA is the level of information you need to keep track of while shopping. Aisle number, bin number, product name, color – it’s a lot! I’m not in love with the golf pencil and piece of paper they give you to write everything down, so I built SwedeShop.

Don’t like line drawings? SwedeShop will let you take your own photo of the item for future reference. And it will even help you with establishing—and sticking to—a budget as you wander through the warehouse. I mean, do you really need those bath mats that are shaped like daisies?

Sound good? Well, you better act fast, low price luxury lover. Because SwedeShop is only available for free for a short, short period of time. Like until Tuesday at midnight.

To download the app, visit [SwedeShop in the App Store](http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=325427596&mt=8 "SwedeShop").
