If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: Portland likes the geogeeking. And whether it’s mobile, Geode, or good-old mapping, there’s no better place for getting your fill of geolocation and geography goodness than WhereCamp PDX.
So if you’re interested in hanging out with some of the best and brightest geolocation types in town, you’re going to want to find your way to WhereCamp this weekend, October 2-4.
WhereCampPDX is a free unconference focusing on all things geographical. This informal meeting of minds welcomes all geo-locative enthusiasts, anyone who asks “where am I” or feels the need to “know their place.”
The event kicks off Friday night with an opening party at Gallery Homeland, followed by a Saturday full of unconference sessions at Metro and late night hacking at PIE, and finishes with a Sunday of playing outdoor urban games. There’s even a post on “how to win at WhereCamp.”
As an aside, it’s always great to see such an awesome event garner some equally awesome sponsors. But it’s especially nice to see some municipally focused sponsors like Trimet and Metro whom we don’t normally see involved in the whole unconference scene. Equally impressive is seeing Microsoft—following on the heels of a premier sponsorship for WordCamp Portland—continuing to provide support for these types of events.
