# A Portland entrepreneur and a Portland startup made Super Bowl ad appearances? Indeed they did.

\[HTML3\]You know, sometimes you’re sitting there, watching one of the largest sporting events on earth. And you think you see something or hear something that has you doing a bit of a double take. Did I just see what I thought I saw? Did that guy just say what I thought he said?

Sure enough. In both cases. You see, two Portland area Silicon Florist favorites made their Super Bowl ad debuts last weekend, entrepreneur [Jason Glaspey](http://twitter.com/jasonglaspey "Jason Glaspey") and travel network [BootsnAll](http://www.bootsnall.com/ "BootsnAll").

Now, granted. The mentions were extremely brief. But when 30 seconds runs a couple of million dollars, even a mention could mean tens of thousands of dollars of exposure in front of a worldwide audience. Not to mention all the DVR replays and online views.

So where did our Portland peers appear?

Jason Glaspey—of Portland-based [Unthirsty (successful exit)](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/01/22/raise-your-glass-to-more-acquisitions-portland-unthirsty-gets-acquired/ "Raise your glass to more acquisitions! Portland’s Unthirsty gets acquired"), [Bac’n (successful exit)](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/01/05/bacn-meant-consumed/ "Bacn was meant to be consumed"), and [Paleo Plan](http://www.paleoplan.com/ "Paleo Plan") (new venture) fame—was the name of the character in the [FLO TV Super Bowl ad](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09-M-S7Og0o "FLO TV Super Bowl ad"), thanks to the stylings of [a friend who wrote the spot](http://twitter.com/jasonglaspey/status/8789394814 "Glaspey on the ad").

\[HTML1\]

And apparently, Portland-based—and [30 hour day](http://30hourday.org "30 hour day") sponsor—[BootsnAll’s Parislogue](http://www.parislogue.com/ "Parislogue") is the best place to learn “[how to impress a French girl](http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=how+to+impress+a+French+girl&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&oq= "how to impress a French girl").” At least according to [Google’s Parisian Love Super Bowl ad](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnsSUqgkDwU "Google Parisian Love").

\[HTML2\]

Congrats to the Portland folks who made it into the big game. Here’s looking forward to seeing more prominent mention of our awesome entrepreneurs next time around.
