# Reminder: Portland Development Commission Lunch 2.0 is Wednesday

It appears that Summer has arrived, which means lots of stuff to do, including a Lunch 2.0 at the [Portland Development Commission](http://www.pdc.us/) (@pdxdevelopment) this coming Wednesday from 12-2 PM.

You won’t want to miss this one.

The PDC has been active lately, including tech as part of their Economic Development Strategy and [polling Portland software community](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/05/04/portland-development-commission-pdc-releases-initial-results-software-cluster-survey/) for input and information.

Last week, [Eva Schweber](http://catherder.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/hey-software-developers-tell-us-who-you-are/) (@EvaCatHerder) and [Audrey Eschright](http://dyepot-teapot.com/2010/05/12/help-portland-tech/) (@spinnerin) started a [Portland software community census](http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KTGSH9Q) to provide the City and the PDC with good demographic data to guide their policies.

You’ll want to fill that out, so I’ll wait.

More specifically, the goals of the census are to:

> 1. Ensure economic development efforts are targeted to what our industry actually needs
> 2. Provide data that can be used to assess the success of economic development efforts
> 3. Create an accurate picture of our amazing tech community (and give us bragging rights at OSCON).
> 4. Market Portland to companies like [Involver](http://involver.com/start) who are coming to [check out Portland!](http://portland.beerandblog.com/)

The census runs through the end of May, but if you participate before (or possibly on) May 17, your feedback will be rolled into the data for discussion at the lunch on May 19 and at the roundtable discussion on May 21 at 3 PM.

So, let your voice be heard and get free lunch.

As if that weren’t enough, Whiffies (@whiffies) will be catering the lunch.

You read that right. Gregg Abbott and crew will be providing the fried pie goodness that has become synonymous with Portland tech.

But wait, there’s more. [ShopIgniter](http://www.shopigniter.com/) (@shopigniter), a PDC and [Portland Ten](http://portlandten.com/) (@portlandten) success story, will be sharing their experiences as well.

Should be a very full, pun intended, lunch.

Please, please, please be sure to [RSVP over on Upcoming](http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/5642694/OR/Portland/Lunch-20-at-the-Portland-Development-Commission/Portland-Development-Commission/), so there’s enough Whiffies for everyone, and drop a comment for vegan/vegetarian pies.

Begin boilerplate.

I’m always looking for hosts, so if you’re interested or know someone who might be interested in hosting a Lunch 2.0, drop a comment, hit me up on Twitter (@[jkuramot](http://twitter.com/jkuramot)), or find me at a Lunch 2.0, if you want to chat IRL.

Want to know what’s involved? Check out the how-to [primer](http://siliconflorist.com/2009/09/14/2009/09/04/2009/08/15/2009/07/30/2009/06/27/2009/05/24/2009/05/24/2009/05/11/2008/11/11/how-to-lunch-20/).

Big thanks to all the hosts who have hosted or plan to host Lunch 2.0. As with the majority of the tech events in Portland, sponsors make them happen. So, we humbly thank you.

End boilerplate.
