# Turn any iOS 4 iPhone into a photo booth with Photomaton. Maybe get your Foursquare Photogenic badge, too.

Anyone who carries an iPhone carries a fairly powerful camera with them. But sometimes, you need something a little more to motivate you to use that camera.

Sometimes, it’s something complex and artsy like [Hipstamatic](http://hipstamaticapp.com/ "Hipstamatic"). But sometimes, it’s something simple and awesome like [Photomaton](http://www.redf.net/redf.net/photomaton.html "Photomaton"), the newest iPhone app from Portland’s own [Brandon Sneed](http://twitter.com/BSNEED "Brandon Sneed").

What’s Photomaton do? Well, it turns your iOS 4 powered iPhone into a photo booth.

And yes, before you ask, you do need to be running iOS 4.

But if you’ve got that, you’re all set to start snapping photos of yourself, photo booth style. And while it might not replace the photo booth at the Ace Hotel or Backspace (oh did I just reveal two places in Portland that can have you on your way to the [Foursquare Photogenic badge](http://www.foursquarebadges.info/articles/60891/How-To-Earn-The-Photogenic-Badge-On-Foursquare)?), it’s still a pretty cool application of iPhone technology for fun and profit. You see, the app runs $0.99.

If you have iOS 4, you can [download Photomaton from the App Store](http://itunes.com/apps/photomaton "Photomaton"). Not ready to cough up the cash quite yet? That’s fine. [Try Photomaton Lite](http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photomaton-lite/id375632980?mt=8 "Photomaton Lite").
