If you’ve been anywhere near a movie theater or a television in the past year, you’ve no doubt discovered the renaissance that media is having with the concept of three dimensional video. Good ol’ 3D. Everything old is new again. Only now, it’s less about making things jump out at you and more about giving video a depth of field.

But for all the advances in movies and television, streaming video has remained rather, well, flat. That is, until now. What’s Elemental demoing?

> The demonstration features a real-world, end-to-end 3D workflow in which Elemental Live performs the heavy-duty encoding required to stream live HD 3D video over the Internet. In the demonstration, a single system directly accepts a 3D TV signal from TVN and simultaneously encodes seven independent output streams for multi-screen delivery via Level 3’s content distribution network. Content is formatted for Microsoft Smooth Streaming, an adaptive bit rate protocol that enables a compelling, uninterrupted online viewing experience.
