# Cyborg Sunday: Hacking open government data following CyborgCamp Portland 2010

\[HTML2\]Today, any self respecting cyborg is either in attendance at [CyborgCamp 2010 in Portland](http://portland.cyborgcamp.com/ "CyborgCamp Portland 2010") or wet wired into the [CyborgCamp livestream](http://www.ustream.tv/channel/strange-love-live "CyborgCamp livestream").

But that’s today. Tomorrow? The CyborgCamp folks—and anyone else who is interested—are going to be rolling up their sleeves and getting down to business as part of the [Open Government Hackathon at NedSpace Old Town](http://calagator.org/events/1250459215 "Open Government Hackathon").

What’s the purpose? To figure out what kind of apps you can build off of [Portland, Oregon’s open municipal datasets](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/04/20/open-data-civicapps-101-datasets-data-geeking-portland-oregon/ "Portland, Oregon's open municipal datasets") in less than six hours time. Who knows? You might even get to use [Max Ogden](http://twitter.com/#!/maxogden "Max Ogden")‘s award winning [PDXAPI](http://pdxapi.com/ "PDXAPI"). And go.

> There will be organizers on-site to help get things rolling. At 5:30pm, each app will be evaluated by the Hackathon Partners and prizes will be awarded to those teams or individuals that develop the best applications in the 8 hour. Participants need not show up right at 8:30am, but those who do will have the most time to code!

So you didn’t make it to CyborgCamp so you’re feeling a little left out. And now you’re even more upset because you won’t get to participate in the hackathon. Well, turn that frown upside down, my friend. CyborgCamp attendees will be participating, but anyone is allowed to attend. Yes, even you.
