If you’ve been around Portland for a while, you might recall Demolicious, a quarterly series of events hosted by Portland Web Innovators that allowed Portland startups and developers to demo interesting projects on which they had been working. It was a great way to see all the random stuff happening in town.
Well, as these sorts of things often do, Demolicious went on a bit of hiatus. But now? It’s back. A little bigger and a little better. Well, a little better, that is, if you apply to show Portland what you’ve been working on.
Demolicious is Portland Web Innovators’ showcase of member’s work. Whether it’s a side project or a new business, you have ten minutes to show what you’ve got. We’ve seen content management systems, Firefox extensions, WordPress plug-ins, and complete sites. What do you have to show off?
How is it bigger and better? Well, previous Demolicious gatherings have been rather informal and intimate, held at places like Jive and PIE. But this time around, Portland Web Innovators has partnered with Silicon Florist and PIE to help spread the Demolicious love. And we were all thinking we’d step things up a notch.
So on March 2 at 6:00 PM, we’ll be holding Demolicious at Backspace. Got a product or side project you’d like to share in front of the crowd? Apply to get up on stage. C’mon. That thing that you’ve been building is awesome. And more people should see it. Plus, you could use the practice on your pitch. So please apply.
Just interested in seeing what’s happening in the Portland tech scene? Show up. We’ll have plenty of room. And time to chat with both the presenters and the other attendees. It’s the perfect venue for getting involved.
As always, Demolicious is free. And it is guaranteed to attract an interesting group of folks. So if you’re interested in sponsoring—by paying for food and drinks or offering up fabulous parting gifts to attendees and presenters—it’s highly likely that these folks will get all warm and fuzzy when they think of you. Interested in sponsoring? Drop me a line at siliconflorist at gmail dot com and let’s chat.
Not in Portland? Well, if you’re north of PDX, our friends at Seattle 2.0 are having a demo event of their own on February 22 called Seattle TNT. Maybe you could make it to that event. Maybe you could make it to both.
