# Red Hat and Max Ogden team up for Map Hack, an all night geolocation hackathon

It’s pretty late to be reading blog posts. Whatcha doing? Up hacking on stuff? What’s that? You’re reading this in the morning? Oh. Well maybe you’re still hacking on stuff. Okay. Whatever. Forget the whole time thing. Point is: you’re hacking on stuff.

Well, if you want a little company with that whole hacking, [Red Hat invites you to join Max Ogden for Map Hack](http://calagator.org/events/1250459857 "Red Hat Map Hack!"), a all-night geolocation app hackathon starting at 7 PM Saturday and running until 11 AM Sunday.

[Max Ogden](http://www.maxogden.com/ "Max Ogden"). Why does that name sound familiar? Well you may remember Max for his beard. Oh. Wait. And a few other things. Like as being the guy who created [PDX API](http://pdxapi.com/ "PDX API") to help make all the open data from the City of Portland more easily accessible to app developers. Or maybe you remember he was [named as a fellow for Code for America](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/11/01/max-ogden-civicapps-pdx-api-fame-garners-code-america-fellowship/ "Max Ogden of CivicApps PDX API fame garners Code for America fellowship").

Whatever the case, Max is back in Portland for a few days. (He’s in the Bay Area as part of his fellowship.) And he and Red Hat have teamed up to host a 16 hour geolocation app hackathon.

> Design, hack and field test locally focused civic geo mobile applications! Anyone at any skill level can come learn how to make mobile apps. We will design and code all night and then go out in the morning and field test the apps.

The event begins at 7 PM on Saturday. It will be hosted at [PIE](http://goo.gl/maps/LIJW "Portland Incubator Experiment"). Red Hat will be providing food and drink. PIE will make sure you’re all caffeinated.

So what are you waiting for? There’s more hacking to be done. [RSVP for the Red Hat Map Hack](http://redhatmaphack.eventbrite.com/ "RSVP for the Red Hat Map Hack"). And [follow the event on Plancast](http://plancast.com/p/43w5 "Red Hat Map Hack") for any last minute updates and to see who else plans to be there.

What’s that? Need another hack-ish to do on Saturday? Well, there’s a [Portland wiki barnraising](http://portland.daveknows.org/2011/03/03/portlandwiki-barnraising-5-march-2011/ "Portland wiki barnraising") you may want to attend, as well.
