# Poo-tee-weet! Portland podcasting purveyor publicizes purchase of prized podcasting platform, Cascadia.fm

Saturday is usually a slow news day in the Portland startup scene. Usually. But today was different. There was big news. Of another acquisition. But this time, it’s someone else acquiring a Portland company.

That’s right. Today, [Robert Wagner](http://twitter.com/robwagpdx "Robert Wagner") announced that [Cascadia.fm](http://cascadia.fm "Cascadia.fm") (nee [pdx.fm](http://pdx.fm "pdx.fm")) has been [sold to an unnamed buyer from southern California](http://cascadia.fm/2011/11/12/cascadia-fm-is-closing/ "Cascadia.fm has been sold").

> It’s with a bit of both trepidation and reluctance that I must announce that on Thursday, November 10th, 2011, Cascadia.fm was sold to an Internet radio start up based in southern California.

> The new owners are purchasing the Cascadia.fm name, website and social media assets, and streaming servers and all related software (both proprietary and not). The sale did not include any contracts with any existing Cascadia.fm podcasts or personalities as none exist, nor does the purchaser wish to retain any of the existing programming.

It’s no secret that I thought [pdx.fm/Cascadia.fm had the potential to become a bigger deal in podcasting than Adam Curry’s hair](http://siliconflorist.com/2009/09/15/pdxfm-podcasting-radio-schedule-radio-schedule-podcasting/ "pdx.fm launches"). And no small part of that confidence was inspired by my faith in Robert’s business sense.

So when Robert made another business decision—to sell Cascadia.fm—I was disappointed. But I was also equally confident that it was the right decision for his company.

So what’s next? [Will PDX Sucks continue](http://robwagpdx.com/2011/11/12/a-few-things-to-clear-the-air-regarding-the-sale-of-cascadia-fm/ "A few things to clear the air regarding the sale of Cascadia.fm")?

> Yes, it will continue as a podcast only. I’m hoping to resume on November 21st but that will greatly depend on time. My suggestion would be to subscribe to the iTunes feed now if you don’t already and you’ll get new episodes as soon as they become available. Having said that, it’s very unlikely that Sabrina will continue to co-host the show after the transition is made due to her increasingly busy schedule. We’re still working out the details.

And what about the other podcasts? Well, [according to Dave Knows PDX](http://portland.daveknows.org/2011/11/12/cascadia-fm-is-dead-long-live-cascadia-fm/ "Cascadia.fm is Dead . . . Long Live Cascadia.fm!") (and he does), a couple of others have been picked up, as well.

> Cascadia.fm as we know it now will *be turned off at 5pm on Friday, November 18th, 2011*. What this means for individual podcasts has yet to be determined (though **[Knit Happens](http://knithappensshow.com/2011/11/12/a-note-on-the-future-of-knit-happens/)** and **[Cort & Fatboy](http://www.cortandfatboy.com/2011/11/12/were-not-going-anywhere-well-technically-we-are-but-not-like-that/)** have already assuaged fears), but Wagner has made his own resources available to the podcast hosts, and, he has promised, **[Portland Sucks](http://pdxsucks.com/)** will continue.

Sad to see Cascadia.fm go. But I’m really looking forward to Robert’s next act.
