Get your math on: Inaugural meeting of the Portland Mathematics User Group tonight

If there’s one common language that ties all aspects of business together—from writing code to analyzing trends—it’s mathematics. And yet, it remains one of the least discussed topics. Why is that?

Well, some folks here in Portland are hoping to change that with the Mathematics User Group.

Mathematics is a powerful language used in such popular applications as The Known Universe. However, the documentation is notoriously terse.

The Mathematics User Group (MUG) will serve the Portland tech community by bridging the gap between abstract mathematical language and concrete problems that programmers come across in the coding trenches.

The first meeting of the group will be held Monday, November 21 (tonight), from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Collective Agency.
