# Finding their way to funding: CrowdCompass lands $1.3 million — with Oregon Angel Fund contributing nearly half

This year has been a great year for funding for Portland startups. What’s more, it’s been a year where local investors have felt comfortable beginning to participate in some of that funding.

Today, we get to add another win to the list. [CrowdCompass](http://crowdcompass.com "CrowdCompass") has announced a $1.3 million funding round, $600k of which came from [Oregon Angel Fund](http://www.oregonangelfund.com/ "Oregon Angel Fund").

As [Mike Rogoway at The Oregonian shares](http://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/index.ssf/2011/12/crowdcompass_closes_13_million.html "CrowdCompass closes $1.3 million funding round, buttressing Portland's mobile scene"), that’s the second mobile investment for OAF, recently.

> Mobile apps are among the hottest technologies available, and Portland has a small but vibrant community of developers and startups focused on the sector.

> Other Portland mobile companies to win backing this year include Geoloqi, Urban Airship and Meridian — which announced a $1 million round last month, also led by the Oregon Angel Fund.
