# Add another successful Reed entrepreneur to the list: Lucky Sort lands $500,000 in funding

I don’t know about you, but I find the number of [Reed](http://reed.edu "Reed") alums in the Portland startup scene to be a compelling backstory. And the list continues to grow.

This time, it’s [Noah Pepper](https://twitter.com/#!/noahmp "Noah Pepper") of [Lucky Sort](http://luckysort.com/ "Lucky Sort"), a [Portland company focused on “advanced information interfaces” that just landed $500,000 for its efforts](http://techcrunch.com/2012/02/20/lucky-sort-grabs-half-a-million-for-big-data-visualization-on-web-ipad/ "Lucky Sort Grabs Half A Million For Big Data Visualization On Web & iPad").

According to the press release:

> The financing was led by Jerry Neumann at Neu Venture Capital with participation from Invite Investments (Founders of Invite Media) and angels including Adam Riggs (Shutterstock.com) and Alex Payne along with other angels. Chaos theory physicist and quantitative trading pioneer Norman Packard, PhD, also invested, and has taken on the role of Chief Science Officer at the firm.

So not only does this mean that another Reed entrepreneur is making things happen locally, but it also means that a local angel—Alex Payne—is participating in the funding. That’s awesome news, too.

“Great things are happening these days in the Portland tech scene and we’re really excited to be a part of it,” said Noah. “The supportive community here is the best reason to start a company in PDX.”
