# One more thing, PDXconf… well two actually: Andy Baio chats with Girl Talk (Part 1)

Every once in a while, an opportunity falls in your lap. And despite the insanity, you have to take the opportunity. Or you’ll never forgive yourself. Such was the case with [PDXconf](http://twitter.com/pdxconf "PDXconf"), this year.

Let me set the stage, a bit.

Portland’s [Andy Baio](http://twitter.com/waxpancake "Andy Baio") was in the final throes of organizing [XOXO](http://xoxofest.com/ "XOXO"). [Girl Talk](https://twitter.com/girltalk "Girl Talk") was in Portland to play [MusicFestNW](http://musicfestnw.com "MusicFestNW"). And I was busy running an event called PDXconf. Everyone was ridiculously busy.

But see, here’s the thing. [Andy had done a phenomenal deconstruction of Girl Talk’s *Feed the Animals*](http://waxy.org/2008/10/feed_the_animals_official_sample_list/ "Girl Talk's Feed the Animals: The Official Sample List"), crowdsourcing a list of each music sample and the length it was used. So having Andy chat with Gregg Gillis, the man behind Girl Talk, seemed like one of those random opportunities we couldn’t pass up.

So, we gathered at [Webtrends](http://webtrends.com "Webtrends"), who were kind enough to host on extremely short notice, to film a conversation between Andy and Gregg, after Gregg finished his set.

Here is the first part of that conversation:

Thanks again to Andy, Gregg, Webtrends, and [Phil Kinjerski](https://twitter.com/PhilKinjerski "Phil Kinjerski") of [Meet the Startup](http://meetthestartup.com "Meet the Startup") for helping make this happen.
