# So that happened: Six new startups debut at PIE Demo Day Fall 2012

*\[Full disclosure: I work for PIE.\]* Last Friday, [as promised](http://siliconflorist.com/2012/10/04/pie-demo-day-livestream/ "REMINDER: PIE Demo Day is Friday — and, yes, it will be livestreamed"), six new startups emerged from [PIE](http://piepdx.com "PIE")—the startup accelerator cosponsored by [Wieden+Kennedy](http://wk.com "Wieden+Kennedy")—to take the stage at the Armory to share the stories of the companies they had built during the program.

The latest PIE class spanned a variety of business models and target markets, from consumer facing to nonprofit and from media companies to traditional tech.

Graduates included:

- **[AppThwack](http://www.appthwack.com/ "AppThwack")** @appthwack, a testing platform for Android applications that runs on real devices
- **[Code Scouts](http://codescouts.org/ "Code Scouts")** @codescouts, a nonprofit designed to bring more women into the world of coding
- **[KS12](http://ks12.net/ "KS12")** @KS12, makers of the Video Sprint, a way to make events “a little more legendary”
- **[Little Bird](http://getlittlebird.com/ "Little Bird")** @getLittleBird, a service that helps people find experts on any topic
- **[Lytics](http://lytics.io/ "Lytics")** @lyticsio, an API for analytics that makes data actionable
- **[Stublisher](http://stublisher.com/ "Stublisher")** @stublisher, a new way to capture the images around events

### Coverage

There was a fair amount of coverage for the day. [With Little Bird leading the pack](http://www.techmeme.com/121006/p13#a121006p13 "Little Bird on Techmeme"). The coverage for the [startup led by Marshall Kirkpatrick](http://marshallk.com/introducing-little-bird-the-best-way-to-find-the-key-people-online "Introducing Little Bird, the Best Way to Find the Key People Online") spanned tech, industry, and mainstream media with coverage from the tech blogs, [Adweek](http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising-branding/little-bird-lands-1m-144251 "Little Bird Lands $1M Wieden + Kennedy-incubated startup helps identify subject-specific influencers "), [Wall Street Journal](http://blogs.wsj.com/venturecapital/2012/10/05/how-a-little-bird-told-mark-cuban-where-to-invest-his-money/ "How a Little Bird Told Mark Cuban Where to Invest His Money"), [The Oregonian](http://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/index.ssf/2012/10/portland_startup_little_bird_r.html "Portland startup Little Bird raises $1 million from Mark Cuban, Wieden+Kennedy and others"), and more.

TechCrunch covered three of the startups: [Little Bird](http://techcrunch.com/2012/10/05/little-bird-launch/ "Little Bird Takes Flight: Marshall Kirkpatrick Launches His Influence-Finding Startup, Raises $1M"), [Lytics](http://techcrunch.com/2012/10/05/lytics-unveils-real-time-analysis-for-moneyball-results/ "Lytics Unveils Real-Time Analysis For Moneyball Results"), and [AppThwack](http://techcrunch.com/2012/10/07/5-ways-to-manage-app-development-on-the-android-platform-without-going-nuts/ "5 Ways To Manage App Development On The Android Platform Without Going Nuts").

[Digital Trends has a great write up](http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/portland-incubator-experiment-demo-day/ "AppThwack, Little Bird, Stublisher, and more take the stage for Portland Incubator Experiment Demo Day") on the entire event. As does [PIE cofounder Renny Gleeson](http://www.rennygleeson.com/2012/10/07/pie-unveils-six-new-companies-at-fall-demo-day/ "PIE unveils six new startups @ Fall Demo Day 2012").

Folks also did [a fair amount of tweeting about #piedemo](http://storify.com/turoczy/pie-demo-day-fall-2012 "PIE Demo Day tweets").

If you want to see the full event—including the [founder profiles](https://www.vizify.com/pie-demo-day "Vizify profiles for PIE Demo Day") from Portland startup [Vizify](http://www.vizify.com "Vizify")—you can watch the entire thing on Livestream, with [PIE Demo Day part 1](http://www.livestream.com/piepdx/video?clipId=flv_f85c1bcc-a0b6-4b37-a38f-ba781c458f74 "PIE Demo Day Fall 2012 Part 1") and [part 2](http://www.livestream.com/piepdx/video?clipId=flv_31e13749-50c9-44b0-a7f8-df2185ece7ec "PIE Demo Day Fall 2012 Part 2").
