# Portland Startup Weekend launches 13 companies and sends one into Global Startup Battle

A few weeks back, [Portland Startup Weekend](http://portland.startupweekend.org "Portland Startup Weekend")‘s eighth event gathered 113 participants who presented 50 pitches. From that, 13 teams formed, with the winning team advancing to the [Global Startup Battle](http://globalstartupbattle.org/ "Global Startup Battle"), part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. (And [you can still vote for them](http://apps.facebook.com/offerpop/Contest.psp?c=233376&u=50788&a=202991206406825&p=5510679098&rest=0&v=Submit "Vote for Portland Startup Weekend in the Global Startup Battle").)

But truth be told. Everyone who participates comes away from the weekend with a ton of new experiences. And maybe, just maybe, a new company. So what are the startups that emerged from Portland Startup Weekend?

1st Place: **[BugShark](http://www.bugshark.com "BugShark")**, @bugshark: Provides businesses with a feedback platform to connect with a network of professionals, also known as Sharks, who improve your website testing process by having them find bugs and give you visual and clear feedback on your site.

2nd Place: **[Foot in the Door](http://www.footinthedoor.co/ "Foot in the Door")**, @fitdpdx: Connects interns with awesome internships and jobs in a seamless way.

3rd Place: **[Local Plate](http://www.localplate.co/ "Local Plate")**, @localplate: Simplifies the process of getting produce from farmers to restaurants with an online exchange.

Launchside Rapid Revenue price winner: **[Due.Love](http://www.duelove.com "Due.Love")**, @due\_love: A resource for matching families with Doulas for better birthing outcomes. Doulas also get better business building tools. Launchside will be building out their online service as part of this $5,000 prize package.

Audience Favorite: **[MySelf Trainer](http://www.myselftrainer.co/ "MySelf Trainer")**, @myselftrainer: An XBox Kinect application to help analyze and improve your sports techniques (golf swing, baseball batting, etc.)

The rest of the field, in order of presentations, were:

**[Spkrly](http://www.spkrly.co/ "Spkrly")**, @spkrly: Reads your tweets and RSS feeds like a radio announcer, making it easy to multitask and stay current.

**[2nd Step](http://www.2ndstep.net/ "2nd Step")**. An online exchange for non-traditional educational materials.

**[Bit Trails](http://www.bittrails.com/ "Bit Trails")**, @BitTrails: A platform that correlates your social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, etc.) with personal information like stress levels, happiness, etc. to help you make positive changes to your life in a quantifiable way.

**[Find Ohana](http://www.findohana.me "Find Ohana")**, @FindOhana: Makes it easy for renters to process the paperwork needed for renting apartments with a single application.

**[NextHop](http://www.nexthop.co "NextHop")**, @nexthopco: Leads you to products inside of stores with a unique wifi geolocation app combined with crowdsourcing.

**[Chalkflow](http://www.chalkflow.com "Chalkflow")**, @chalkflow: GitHub for creatives. It seamlessly manages versions and file naming inside of tools developers are already familiar with.

**[MyPublicist](http://www.getsocialhelp.com/ "MyPublicist")**, @mypublicist: A social media engagement platform for small businesses.

**[Tripfind.me](http://www.tripfind.me/ "Tripfind.me")**, @tripfindme: is a beautifully designed way to discover and book travel destinations based on simple, relevant parameters like total price and activities.
