# Portland's Visere acquired by Jawbone, putting the Rose City at the center of Quantified Self hardware

Another [Portland company just got snapped up](http://visere.com/ "Visere"). And now [Jawbone](http;//jawbone.com "Jawbone") has a Portland office—bringing the [agency that collaborated with Jawbone on UP](http://visere.com/work2.html#work1 "Visere on UP") into the mothership.

But the most interesting part of this news in my opinion?

It’s the fact that Portland is quickly becoming the de facto hub of wearable computing devices—Nike+, Nike Fuel, the Nike+ Accelerator powered by TechStars, and now Jawbone UP. Hardware. It’s coming back in a big way around here.

> You can tell the influence of uber designer (and chief creative officer) Yves Behar on the San Francisco-based wearable computing products company Jawbone. The company is buying two startups – Visere and MassiveHealth (behind the Eatery app) for an undisclosed amount of money in order to create a better experience around the UP, its personal health focused wearable computing device.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
