Any number of companies are attacking the idea of social commerce space, looking to make money off the way people share stuff with the friends. But Portland’s Chirpify has always had a unique take on that pursuit. And today? Things got a whole heck of a lot uniquerer.
You see, Chirpify’s primary differentiator has always been the ability to transact from the social stream—in-stream transactions—without being sent to another service to finalize the transaction. Just say “buy” and it’s done.
But that he was also doing the same thing on a new platform: Facebook. Yeah, you may have heard of them. They’re a social network with a few users.
Wait. Back up. That purchase functionality that Chirpify enabled for Twitter and Instagram? That’s right. Chirpify now works in-stream on Facebook updates.
I didn’t see anything on their blog. So I confirmed with Chirpify Chris Teso. Who advised that this was just the first of a few interesting things in the offing.
“We’re rolling out FB Commerce with several select big name musicians and top tier brands,” he said. “Over the next week or so you’re going to see some big releases.”
