# Taking a dive: Instrument builds an awesome immersive skydiving experience for Google I/O using Google Maps API

Portland’s [Instrument](http://weareinstrument.com "Instrument") always tries to pull out all of the stops when it comes to [Google I/O](https://developers.google.com/events/io/ "Google I/O"), the annual developer conference where Google often unveils new technology. This year is no different.

Check out the skydiving game they built using “multiple instances of Chrome mashed up with the Google Maps Javascript API v3, Web GL, 3D CSS, web sockets and node.js.”

For more on the skydiving experience, read [Instrument’s blog post](http://weareinstrument.com/blog/all/sneak-peek-map-diving-at-io "Sneak Peek: Map Diving at I/O") as well as coverage in [The Verge](http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/9/4316188/google-instrument-map-diving-io-2013 "No parachute required: Google develops skydiving simulator Map Diving") and [Engadget](http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/09/instrument-map-diving-demo-for-chrome-like-a-google-io-keynote/ "Instrument's Map Diving for Chrome: like a Google I/O keynote, minus Sergey").
