# Taking it up a notch: Works Electric unveils an urban assault vehicle of an electric scooter

Okay. Granted. This is a little different than the startups I usually cover. But once you see it, you’ll know why I felt the need to tell you about it. Check out the [electric scooter that Portland’s Works Electric](http://works-electric.com/ "Works Electric") just released.

The locally sourced and manufactured scooter—dubbed the “Rover”—is quite a sight to behold.

> We set out to build the World’s greatest compact electric vehicle available, and as far as we can tell, we’ve succeeded. The Rover is fun, safe, and easy to operate; and with a maximum range of 36 miles and a top speed of 33 mph, it meets all the demands of everyday commuting and then some.

There are [two versions of the Rover](http://works-electric.com/the-rover/ "The Rover"), each priced in the range of $5000.
