# Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian stops by Powell's Cedar Hills, October 13

One of the best things about the startup scene? Shared knowledge. Hands down. Whether it’s a story of failure or a story of success, shared knowledge and experiences can often be the key to helping another founder succeed—or just make it through the day.

I’ve always appreciated this form of “giving back” to the community. And that’s why I was psyched to hear that [Alexis Ohanian](https://twitter.com/AlexisOhanian "Alexis Ohanian")—a [prolific startup guy](http://alexisohanian.com/pages/about "About Alexis Ohanian") to say the least—will be in town to talk about his new book [Without Their Permission](http://withouttheirpermission.com/ "Without Their Permission") and to share some of his insights about the Web.

> As Alexis Ohanian learned when he helped to cofound the immensely popular reddit.com, the Internet is the most powerful and democratic tool for disseminating information in human history. In Without Their Permission (Business Plus), Ohanian shares his ideas, his tips, and even his own doodles about harnessing the power of the Web for good.

This is a great opportunity to hear from a founder, investor, and Y Combinator Ambassador, whether you’re pursuing a startup or not. So head on out to Beaverton to see him on October 13 at 4PM.

For more information or to purchase the book, visit [Powell’s](http://www.powells.com/events/5558/ "Alexis Ohanian at Powell's").

*(Hat tip [r/Portland](http://reddit.com/r/Portland "Portland Reddit"), of course.)*
