# Those sick stuffed animals aren't going to heal themselves: Pretendasaurus launches Dr. PetPlay

Have you ever watched a child interact with an iPad? It’s actually kind of amazing how ridiculously quickly they pick up the concepts and techniques. And given the world we live in, that’s a skill they’re going to need. More often than not, however, the content delivered on those devices is for anyone but children. But now, the stuffed animal doctor is in.

Meet [Dr. PetPlay](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dr.-petplay-free-pretend-play/id735866884?mt=8 "Dr. PetPlay") from Portland-based [Pretendasaurus](http://www.pretendasaurus.com/ "Pretendasaurus"), an app designed to accompany kids’ creative play. Even if it’s your T-Rex that’s sick.

> Our iPad App was created for children ages 6-10 to imagine being a veterinarian by caring for their own stuffed animals. Dr. PetPlay’s features, just like a blanket fort or mini kitchen, become a fun part of children’s imaginative play.

> Our pretend play app focuses on children having fun in the real world, bringing life to the imaginary world, and enhancing the digital world with familiar play that you already know and love.

I have to say, as someone who has worked in digital healthcare for a decade, this is *way* better than 90% of the EMR products I’ve seen. The X-Ray functionality is awesome. And it looks pretty fun, too.

The app is currently available on the iPad. And it’s free. You can [download Dr. PetPlay from the App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dr.-petplay-free-pretend-play/id735866884?mt=8 "Dr. PetPlay").
