# Speaking their language: Voice of the Customer Roadshow swings by Portland, Thursday, December 5

One of the nice things about Portland having a growing presence on the startup community map is that we now have really interesting people swinging by town on a regular basis. This week is no exception. [Jessica McKellar visited New Relic’s Portland office](http://siliconflorist.com/2013/11/25/internet-works-jessica-mckellar-slated-december-relic-futuretalk/ "How the Internet works: Jessica McKellar slated for December New Relic FutureTalk") to share her knowledge. [Gary Vaynerchuk was at Powell’s](http://www.powells.com/events/5618/ "Gary Vaynerchuk") to launch his new book. And Thursday, [Voice of the Customer Roadshow](http://voiceofcustomer.co/ "Voice of the Customer Roadshow") will be swinging by.

What’s “Voice of the Customer” all about? It’s about getting away from buzzwords and marketing speak and being authentic with your customers. It’s about engagement and building community. And it’s about exploring how technology can help folks have more meaningful interactions.

Best of all, it means we’ve got two awesome entrepreneurs swinging by town, [Shervin Talieh](https://twitter.com/calitalieh "Shervin Talieh"), cofounder of [Drumbi](http://drumbi.com/ "Drumbi")…

> For my “job”, I get to be the cofounder/CEO of Drumbi, my tech startup based in Southern California. We are focused on voice + data orchestration, keeping customers in the “buying flow” when calling a business.

> Previously, I was a Partner at Accenture, leading the Products Operating Group in Los Angeles. If you haven’t heard of Accenture, it’s a big-ass company with over 350k employees. I traveled the world and led big projects for some really big companies. It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.

… and [Thomas Knoll](https://twitter.com/thomasknoll "Thomas Knoll"), cofounder of [Clipppr](https://www.clipppr.com/ "Clipppr").

> I am cofounder/CEO of clippPR.com, a startup advisor, and a connector for the #VegasTech community.

> I have been a community architect, community cultivator, product designer, social marketer, customer developer, and startup advisor for companies including 500Startups, LaunchRock, Zappos, UserVoice, and Seesmic.

What’s more, this event will serve as an opportunity to showcase the new [Eastside Exchange](http://www.pdc.us/news-and-events/all-news/all-news-detail/13-10-04/Eastside_Exchange_celebrates_opening.aspx "Eastside Exchange opens")—at the Burnside Bridge head—the new home to the [Technology Association of Oregon (TAO)](http://techoregon.org "Technology Association of Oregon (TAO)") and [Oregon Film](http://oregonfilm.com "Oregon Film"), among others.

The event begins at 7PM on Thursday, December 5 at the [Eastside Exchange](https://maps.google.com/maps?q=convention+plaza+portland+oregon&hl=en&ll=45.523488,-122.662826&spn=0.002244,0.004796&sll=45.474726,-122.594866&sspn=0.28745,0.613861&t=m&hq=convention+plaza&hnear=Portland,+Multnomah+County,+Oregon&z=18 "Map to Eastside Exchange (formerly Convention Plaza)"). It is free and open to the public. And sponsored by Portland startup [Simplifilm](http://simplifilm.com "Simplifilm").
