# Doodle me this: Portland elementary student could sketch his way to the next Google Doodle and a scholarship — with your help

The [last time I wrote about Google Doodles](http://readwrite.com/2009/02/05/30_google_doodles_we_love "30 Google Doodles We Love: Could Your Kid's Be Next?"), it was for ReadWrite. When Google launched the program. There just hasn’t been much cause to cover it from a Portland perspective. Until now. You see, a [student from Forest Park Elementary School is in the running to be the next Google Doodle](http://www.google.com/doodle4google/vote.html#d=d1-6 "Vote now for the Doodle you want to see on the Google homepage")—and a hefty scholarship—thanks to the Doodle 4 Google program.

What’s the [Google Doodle](http://www.google.com/doodles/ "Google Doodle"), you ask? It’s that wacky form of the Google logo that celebrates something of importance.

> Google has made a tradition of tweaking its logotype in honor of holidays, special events, and celebrations. And that tweaking has resulted in a library of interesting interpretations of “Google.” Now, they’re giving school age children the chance to participate in the fun and win some cash with the “Doodle 4 Google” contest.

How can you help Portland kid win? Well, you’ve got to vote.

> Young artists coast to coast doodled their inventions to make the world a better place. Doodle 4 Google guest judges have chosen the 50 state winners. Now it’s your turn to vote!

> The winner’s doodle will appear on the Google.com homepage and he or she will receive a $30,000 scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his or her school. Help us choose the winner – cast your votes for each grade group now.
