# An august August: TechFestNW 2014 draws a respected lineup of tech speakers from — and to — Portland

There have been a number of changes for [TechFestNW](http://techfestnw.com "TechFestNW")—the annual tech event run in conjunction with [MusicFestNW](http://musicfestnw.com "MusicFestNW")—this year. The event has moved to August, the ticket price has dropped, and they’ve added a [talent fair to help startups find the talent they need](http://techfestnw.com/talent-fair/ "TFNW Talent Fair"). But one thing hasn’t changed: [the caliber of TFNW speakers](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/ "TFNW speakers").

TFNW has always been about bringing together known tech personalities—from both around and outside Portland—and interspersing them with amazing local speakers who may not be as familiar—but are equally awesome.

This year, the event will be welcoming folks like [Kara Swisher](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/kara-swisher/ "Kara Swisher") of Re/code (“[Silicon Valley’s most feared and well-liked journalist](http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/07/kara-swisher-silicon-valleys-most-powerful-snoop.html "Kara Swisher Is Silicon Valley’s Most Feared and Well-Liked Journalist. How Does That Work?")“), [Mike Dubin](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/mike-dubin/ "Mike Dubin") of Dollar Shave Club, [Genevieve Bell](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/genevieve-bell/ "Genevieve Bell") of Intel, [Trei Brundrett](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/trei-brundrett/ "Trei Brundrett") of Vox Media (Eater, Polygon, The Verge), and Senator [Ron Wyden](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/senator-ron-wyden/ "Ron Wyden"). But we’ll also be hearing from awesome locals like [Mara Zepeda](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/mara-zepeda/ "Mara Zepeda") of Switchboard, [Alan Wizemann](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/alan-wizemann/ "Alan Wizemann") of Target, [Sce Pike](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/sce-pike/ "Sce Pike") of Citizen+, [Samuel Hulick](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/samuel-hulick/ "Samuel Hulick") of User Onboarding, and [Andrew DeVigal](http://techfestnw.com/lineup/andrew-devigal/ "Andrew DeVigal") of the University of Oregon. As well as a [host of other awesome speakers](http://techfestnw.com/schedule/ "TFNW Schedule").

The event will be held at [OMSI](http://omsi.edu "OMSI"), again, but the setting will be different, given that OMSI has an awesome newly renovated theater, August 15 and 16th, 2014. [Tickets are still available, starting at $99 for TechFestNW only](http://techfestnw.com/tickets/ "TFNW tickets")—or $175 for passes to both TFNW and MFNW.

For more information or to grab your tickets, visit [TechFestNW](http://techfestnw.com "TechFestNW").

*\[Full disclosure: I am the cofounder of TechFestNW and continue to assist with the event.\]*
