# Former Jive CEO's new startup, RipFog, hosts inaugural meetup, Thursday, September 25

When [Dave Hersh](http://www.davehersh.com/ "Dave Hersh") [stepped aside as the CEO of Jive](http://siliconflorist.com/2010/02/22/stewardess-speak-jive-tony-zingale-replaces-dave-hersh-jive-software-ceo/ "Oh stewardess! I speak Jive: Tony Zingale replaces Dave Hersh as Jive Software CEO"), we all hoped—or maybe knew—that it would only be a matter of time before he got back into the startup game. And while we’ve heard rumors here and there about what his latest effort, [RipFog](https://ripfog.com/ "RipFog"), is up to, Thursday marks the first public event in which they’re engaging.

Given Portland’s history with mobile development and, well, [swifts](http://audubonportland.org/local-birding/swiftwatch "Chapman Swifts"), it only made sense [to start with Apple’s new mobile programming language, Swift](http://www.meetup.com/Mobile-Development-Meetup/events/203517712/ "How do I even Swift? A mobile developer meetup").

> JP’s been developing full-time in Swift since its announcement at WWDC. He’s the lead engineer on the Swift implementation of Realm, maintainer of jazzy (the documentation tool Apple forgot to release) and a co-organizer of the SLUG, the largest Swift user group in the world.

The event will be held at Jama South (the former Urban Airship and Ziba offices) at NW 11th and NW Flanders on Thursday, September 25. Doors open at 6:00PM.
