# Portland Startup Week: It's like Design Week Portland but with even more startup awesomeness

It’s no secret that Portland loves its Startup Weekends. (In fact, [there’s another one coming up November 14-16](http://www.up.co/communities/usa/portland/startup-weekend/4806 "Portland Startup Weekend").) But sometimes, a weekend is a little too short. Okay. Who am I kidding? Weekends are *always* too short. That’s why I’m happy to announce that we’ve been working behind the scenes to put together [Portland Startup Week](http://portland.startupweek.co/ "Portland Startup Week").

We’re working with former Oregonian [Andrew Hyde](http://twitter.com/andrewhyde "Andrew Hyde"), who created Startup Weekend and made sure that [Portland was one of the early adopters](http://siliconflorist.com/2008/01/11/portland-startup-weekend-could-it-be-what-the-rose-city-needs/ "Portland Startup Weekend could be just what the Rose City needs"). He’s now with [UP Global](http://www.up.co/ "UP Global") and working to make sure we’re one of the early adopters of this week-long program, too.

> We’re thrilled that you’re interested in Startup Week. Startup Week is a free, five-day celebration of our community that builds momentum and opportunity around entrepreneurship. We’re led by local entrepreneurs and hosted in amazing spaces all over town. And we want you involved! Take a second to sign up for our list to keep up with all the updates we’ll have for you over the next few months.

My favorite part about this thing? Unlike other events designed to draw people to our fair city. We’re going to run this thing during only the most Portlandy of weather. To bring out the true Portland startup diehards. That’s right. First week in February, February 2-6, 2015.

We’re still in the planning stages. And we’re still soaking in the awesomeness that was the most recent [Design Week Portland](http://designweekportland.com "Design Week Portland")—which provides a ton of inspiration. So if you’re interested in hosting an event, volunteering to help, or simply just attending and reveling in Portland startup awesomeness, please sign up at [Portland Startup Week](http://portland.startupweek.co/ "Portland Startup Week"). Or feel free to [follow along on Twitter](https://twitter.com/startupweekpdx "Startup Week Portland").
