# ACT-W Portland: A conference to advance the careers of tech women

If you want to build products that are used by a wide variety of people, it’s incredibly important that you have a wide variety of people building those products. That’s why I’m always happy to see events that help diversify the Portland tech and startup scene. Like [ACT-W Portland](http://act-wpdx.splashthat.com/ "ACT-W Portland"), which is coming up this weekend.

> As the Portland tech scene continues to grow, more and more opportunities for both current and future professionals are added every day.

> ACT-W is designed to help women professionals network, grow their skills, and discover employers looking for exceptional talent. … Don’t miss this opportunity to meet tech and business mentors, learn from our speakers, build technical and social skills, and exchange experiences.

This is the third year of the conference, which begins Friday, April 10 at 7:00PM and continues through April 12 at 11:30PM. It’s a collaboration between [ChickTech](http://www.chicktech.org/ "ChickTech"), [Girl Develop It](https://www.girldevelopit.com/chapters/portland "Girl Develop It"), [Lesbians who Tech](http://lesbianswhotech.org/events/city/portland/ "Lesbians who Tech"), and [Women Who Code](http://www.meetup.com/Women-Who-Code-Portland/ "Women Who Code"), with the help and support of The Art Institute of Portland, who will be hosting the event at 1122 NW Davis St. Tickets to the entire event are $35. But there are other options available for individual parts of the conference.
