# A shared future: TechfestNW hosts a conversation about the sharing economy

The Portland startup scene has always been collaborative and collegial. So it would stand to reason that the impact of the sharing economy—both positive and negative—would be a topic of conversation within our community. Now, [TechfestNW](http://techfestnw.com "TechfestNW")—an annual startup event—is working to bring that conversation to the forefront with a special one day event entitled “[A Shared Future](http://bit.ly/tfnw15tickets "A Shared Future").”

The event will bring a number of sharing economy companies—including Uber—together with Portland’s mayor for this discussion. Among those participating are:

- [David Plouffe](https://twitter.com/davidplouffe "David Plouffe"), SVP, Policy and Strategy for Uber and former campaign manager for Barack Obama
- [Aaron Easterly](https://twitter.com/aaroneasterly "Aaron Easterly"), CEO of Rover
- [Marcelo Loureiro](https://twitter.com/mlorero "Marcelo Loureiro"), CEO of Spinlister
- [Sarah Mastrorocco](https://www.linkedin.com/pub/sarah-mastrorocco/5/17a/a7a "Sarah Mastrorocco"), Business Development, Instacart

The event will be held at the Empirical Theater at OMSI on April 30 beginning at 4PM. Tickets for the event are $30 which include a cocktail reception following the event.
