# Worst tech town for women? OPB talks with PDX Women In Tech

It’s no secret that Portland has challenges with regards to diversity. But a recent article about Portland being the worst metropolitan area for women in technology fields brought many of those concerns to the forefront. Unequal pay, poor hiring ratios, discrimination… it was all there. This led [OPB’s April Baer](http://www.opb.org/contributor/april-baer/ "OPB April Baer") to sit down with women from [PDX Women In Tech](http://www.pdxwit.org/ "PDX Women In Tech") to discuss their experiences.

> But it’s not just the wage gap. Portland’s female tech workers report experiencing sexual harassment, discrimination around pregnancy and motherhood and the daily indignities of being treated differently.

[PDXWIT is currently conducting survey](https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5MLCWGH "PDXWIT survey") to help better understand ways to help other women in the Portland tech scene.
