# REMINDER: Act now if you want to get in on ACT-W Portland

We all know that if you want to build products that are useful to a wide variety of people, it’s incredibly important that you have a wide variety of people building those products. It just makes sense. That’s why I’m always happy to see events that help get more and more diverse groups feeling welcomed and comfortable within the Portland tech community. Like [ACT-W Portland](http://act-w.org/portland "ACT-W Portland").

> The ACT-W Conference, led by ChickTech in collaboration with PDXWIT, Lesbians who Tech, and Women Who Code, is an engaging, two-day event where talented women can build skills, develop community, and accelerate career paths. Women and allies of all levels of skill and interest in technology are invited to attend. Attendees should not miss this opportunity to meet tech and business mentors, learn from speakers, build both technical and social skills, and exchange experiences. In 2015, conference-goers reported feeling included, welcomed, and represented; it’s an ideal space to learn and develop.

The fourth annual edition of the conference begins Friday, April 22, 2016, at 7:00PM and continues through April 24 at 4:30PM. It will be hosted at Portland State University. Tickets for the two day event are $35—with options for scholarships are available.
