# VertueLab organizes startup-weekend-esque gathering to kickoff accelerator for climate tech startups: 45 Camp Jumpstart

There’s nothing quite like a good startup sprint. Back in the day, this used to occur on a regular basis under the guise of “Startup Weekend” and a number of other hackathon-like events that helped wouldbe entrepreneurs gather with their peers to try building a concept over a weekend. Part challenge, part networking, the events provided a great way of engaging with the Portland startup community. Now, VertueLab is organizing a similar event to kick off a longer accelerator program for cleantech ideas. Meet [45 Camp Jumpstart](https://www.vertuelab.org/45-camp).

> Developed in collaboration with [Tabor 100](https://www.tabor100.org/) and [Prosper Portland](https://prosperportland.us/), 45Camp is a climate tech startup program focused on Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) entrepreneurs. The program comprises of a three day workshop, a ten-week pre-accelerator, and a ten-week accelerator.

The weekend kicks off the activities:

> 45Camp JumpStart provides a concentrated 3-day weekend with training, mentorship and connections to let you explore the idea of building a ClimateTech Startup. You’ll also see examples of VertueLab Entrepreneurs who are making it in ClimateTech. VertueLab is a ClimateTech non-profit that is focused on helping Pacific Northwest ClimateTech entrepreneurs achieve their goals.

> Ideas come from anywhere, and individuals with those ideas often don’t have the entrepreneurial awareness, tools, or guidance to get started in their exploration. Also, entrepreneurship is new in many communities and they need a jumpstart to gain the right knowledge and connections to move forward.
