# Portland startup Gabbi competes in Tampa Bay Synapse Summit

Portland has its fair share of pitch competitions. But it’s always nice to see Portland founders getting the attention they deserve outside of the state. Like local startup [Gabbi](https://www.gabbi.com/), which will be competing in the [Synapse Summit](https://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/inno/stories/news/2024/01/29/synapse-summit-ticket-speaker-keynote.html).

> Each year, Synapse hosts the Innovation Awards, a startup competition to spotlight Florida talent, and a Synapse Innovation Challenge, which evaluates proposed solutions to an announced world issue. This year’s $50,000 Synapse Innovation Challenge comes from a [partnership](https://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/inno/stories/news/2024/01/29/synapse-summit-ticket-speaker-keynote.html) with Tampa General Hospital for improving health care access to cancer detection.

According to Tampa Bay Inno, [Gabbi will be competing in the General Innovation Challenge category against three other startups](https://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/inno/stories/news/2024/02/27/tampa-bay-entrepreneur-synapse-pitch-ai.html) that have a specific focus on “reducing cancer mortality.”
