# Portland startup Haystack Robotics raises $2.7M for disinfecting robot

No matter how much time I try to spend researching Portland startups, I’m still always surprised by news from companies I’ve never heard of. Like [Haystack Robotics.](https://www.haystackrobotics.com/) Which has created a mobile UV-C disinfection robot that makes disinfecting any indoor space “smart, safe, and simple.” Investors seem to like it, too, because [Haystack Robotics just raised a couple of million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2028222/000120087624000007/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml) to support that development.

> At Haystack Robotics we’re committed to making a difference and to aiding in the fight against this pandemic. By combining our diverse talents together, we’ve created an intelligent room disinfection solution that will help keep loved ones safer in schools, nursing homes, hotels, and other indoor spaces.
