# Portland Business Journal interviews Julie Harrelson of Cascade Seed Fund

I wanted to highlight this one — even though it’s stuck behind a paywall — on the chance that you happen to subscribe to the Portland Business Journal. It’s a great read. (And the PBJ does the best job of covering the Portland startup community from a journalistic standpoint.)

[Malia Spencer sat down with Julie Harrelson of Cascade Seed Fund to get her take on the last decade of startups and investing](https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/inno/stories/inno-insights/2024/10/29/cascade-seed-fund-ten-years.html).

> What strikes me is, amazingly, 10 years later there’s a lot of collaboration that still goes on to make sure that some of these companies are successful. That’s interesting to me. I think we (investors across the state) all know each other better. (There is) clarity around thesis and stage so everybody kind of has lanes that they’re running down. I just never had a challenge in that regard with other funds. I think that’s a good thing because it’s not like there’s tons and tons of money around to invest in an early stage.
