# Oregon startups raised more than half of a billion dollars in 2024

While Oregon startups raised a significant amount of capital in 2024, the metrics for the year look far more like a decade ago than the $2.7 billion raised in 2021. [According to The Oregonian](https://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/2025/01/oregon-venture-capital-falls-to-7-year-low.html), 2024 marks a seven year low for VC in the region.

> Investment in Oregon’s startups continued to fade last year, dropping to the lowest point since 2017.

> The state’s entrepreneurs raised $555 million during 2024, an 8% decline from the prior year and a steep fall from the $2.7 billion venture capitalists invested in Oregon in 2021. That’s according to the latest numbers from the National Venture Capital Association and the investment data firm PitchBook.
