# Disputed.ai raises capital to continue solving the “disputed charges” problem

I always love startups that come from a pain point that the founders experienced firsthand. Like the inspiration for [Disputed.ai](https://Disputed.ai), a Portland startup that leverages AI to help folks manage the disputed charge problem. Turns out I’m not the only one. [Disputed.ai just raised $1.1 million](https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/inno/stories/fundings/2025/03/13/seatgeek-alums-ai-startup-chargebacks.html).

> Called [Disputed.ai](https://disputed.ai/) it is founded by CEO Shawn Kelley and Chief Technology Officer Andrew Hart. The software is designed to analyze what are called chargebacks, which is the process companies follow when there is a disputed charge.
>
> Examples of this include a credit card holder with a fraud charge who reports it to their card issuer, which then disputes the charge with the merchant where it was made, Kelley said. Another would be someone who doesn’t receive a ticket or item they purchased who disputes the charge.
