# REMINDER: Demolicious is this Thursday

Missed this one in the newsletter this week, so I wanted to be sure to highlight that [Demolicious](https://www.meetup.com/demolicious-portland/events/305838079/), the monthly gathering of folks interested in quick pitches from local startups, takes place this Thursday, March 20, 2025, at [UpStart Collective](https://www.upstartcollective.org/) Westside. Who’s taking the stage…? I’m glad you asked.

- BLKBOOK
- Carbon Negative Solutions (Defending champion)
- Cocoon Air Cleaner
- McChesney Strategic Defense | Ouranous
- Net Positive Homes
- PupPod
- SENSE Family Autism Care
- Votonic
- Wamglammz LLC
- Zylch Inc

Not familiar with the Demolicious format…?

> You will be given **3 minutes** to pitch at the event.
>
> The audience will be given a QR code to vote for their favorite pitch. The one with the most votes will go home with the Demolicious Championship belt.

Pretty straightforward.

Wait a second… Didn’t I just go on a tirade about pitch events? [I most certainly did](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9AwxrAYZhc&t=1270s). But maybe I’m not wearing my crankypants today. Or something. Rather, I thought it might be a good idea to highlight the event for while providing some ***constructive*** guidance on how both founders and audience members might get the most out of this pitch format:

- Founder benefits
  - Get time in front of a friendly audience
  - Get more reps on your existing pitch
  - Test drive new phrasing or storylines
  - See if certain sections of your pitch land — or where they can be improved
  - Hear other founders pitch
- Attendee benefits
  - First glimpse of promising local companies — whether or not they’re pursuing VC
  - Meet other folks from the community
  - Inspiration for your own ideas
  - Potential opportunities to collaborate

The event is free to attend.
