# Portland Metro Region Innovation Hub experience inspires Pat Cheung to get back to building

While it’s always heartening to see [folks getting more deeply involved in supporting the Portland startup community](https://siliconflorist.com/2025/04/17/pat-cheung-talks-metro-region-innovation-hub-and-portland-startup-community/), it’s even more inspiring when those folks boomerang back into the startup world. Because that’s just a win-win for everyone.

After a brief but meaningful stint at the [Portland Metro Region Innovation Hub](https://www.portlandmetrohub.org/), serial founder [Pat Cheung](https://patcheung.com/) has decided to head back to his roots in tech — with a new perspective. (If you’ve been in Portland long enough, you already know Pat has a strong track record in product, podcasting, and community. And now he’s got even more tools in the toolbox.)

> For the past half year, I’ve had the privilege of working at Metro Region Innovation Hub, supporting startup founders in bringing their innovative ideas to life.
>
> This experience gave me a deep appreciation for the public sector’s role in fostering innovation…and immense respect for the colleagues and partners working tirelessly to grow our local startup ecosystem.…
>
> That said, it’s time for a new chapter.

What’s the new chapter? Details are murky at the moment, but I’ll keep following the story.
